Dating, shacking, and marriage
Q: I am beginning a relationship at the age of twenty five. We dated before when we were fifteen, but now the feelings are stronger, and we feel it is a good idea to live together. He is a Born-Again Christian, and I am just starting out as a Born-Again Christian. What are we to do? We do not plan on having sex until we are married.
A: You are clearly very young in the Lord, but if he really is a Christian he should know far better.
It would certainly not be a "good idea to live together", it would be very foolish on many counts. Read Eph. 5:1-3 and ask the Lord to show you why.
Watch out that you are not lured into temptation by your flesh, and sinful desires.
Ignore this warning at your peril.
What are you to do?
Seek first His kingdom; live clean, pure, lives serving Christ with all your hearts, according to His Word and His Spirit. (1 Th. 4:1-8, 1 Pe. 1:13-16, 2 Pe. 3:11-14, 1 Pe. 5:8-9, Col. 3.)
It's the only way to be truly happy.
Strange Tongues
Q: I am born again, I received a miracle healing in 2006, I have an utterance but no fluid speaking, or praying, in tongues. There is a Scripture that says, "if the Holy Spirit enables them"; does that mean it's not meant for me? Pam
Sheath for your swordA: No Pam, that "if" is from the Devil, the Scripture says; "as the Spirit gave them utterance" Ac. 2:4 KJV, and notice the same verse confirms all were filled, and all spoke in tongues. God wants every believer to be Spirit-filled, and the first Scriptural proof is tongues.
Jews versus Christians
Q: I spoke with a woman regarding missionary help in getting Jews from Africa back to Israel. She told me she would not work with me because she was Jewish and I am Christian. This made no sense to me. Aren't the Jews God's chosen people, even though by their own admission, they killed Christ! I guess my basic question is: Why do the Jews hate Christians? Krista
A: Hate is a strong word, but Jews, being unsaved sinners, are naturally antagonistic to Christians, Jesus warned us it would be so (Jn. 15:18-21). So it is clear why she doesn't want to work with you.
Why do you want to be unequally yoked with unbelievers in "missionary help" (2 Co. 6:14-18), and why do you want to get African Jews to Israel? There they will merely be indoctrinated with Judaism, useless, dead religion. Instead focus your efforts on loving them, proclaim the Gospel, get them saved, and let Jesus direct them where He wants.
