Christian Dating?

Q: Should a seventeen year old Christian boy be dating a twenty year old girl who has lived with another twenty year old boy, and been sexually involved with him? Lisa

A: Of course not; and if the 'dating' involves sexual intimacy, it is plain sin. Eph. 5:3, 1 Co. 6:12-20. Doubtless she is unsaved too, which compounds his sin. 2 Co. 6:14.

Your most embarrassing questions answered.

Going forward

Q: Is it wrong to bring a youth forward to pray for them? Josh

A: First, well done for getting your priorities right; The salvation of sinners.

You mean, after they have heard the Gospel in a meeting, to urge your friends to go forward to accept Christ as LORD.

I'd be concerned that I was 'pushing', or using peer pressure, and ultimately robbing them of the real experience. I understand why you want to accompany them; encouragement, moral support, overcoming fear, and so on. But in the long run, I think it is best to leave them entirely to the Holy Spirit, and let them go forward of their own volition.

A week after I was saved in 1988, I listened to an evangelist for the first time. When the event was over, a young rapist approached the preacher with a question. He wanted to know, if he gave his life to Christ, would he have to admit he'd raped a young woman, and face the consequences of his crime. The preacher, an ex-convict who really knew his onions, kept his composure, and told him straight,

Yes, and you will have to go to jail, but Jesus will go with you. You will serve your sentence together.

The rapist stood silent, looking him in the eye, wavering between life and death. The Preacher stared back, implacable, and silent. I was one of the cow-eyed onlookers praying, there was immense spiritual tension. Naturally, we wanted him to get saved, and it was difficult to restrain ourselves.

The sinner turned, and left unsaved. The Preacher let him go without a word. At the time, I thought the evangelist had missed it, but he hadn't, had he Josh? I learned the lesson that day: The sinner must be 100 per cent responsible for their decision.

A New Person with Power

Q: I pray and plead with God to take this drink addiction from me, but it is still winning. What am I missing? What do I need to do, or say to God? Amy

A: Two vital things. First you say you've been a Christian and backslidden. Most people who backslide, do so because they are not Spirit-filled; so get the power baptism to overcome every temptation.

Secondly, you're constantly denying the Word of God in your heart, and on your lips. Read what God says you are since you have been born again, believe, and confess that. Your pleading and begging is unbelief in what He's already done for you. Learn to walk in the realities of the New Creation. 2 Co. 5:17. E. W. Kenyon is excellent on this topic.

The Key to Heaven

Q: Where does it say in The Bible that one has to be born again to enter The Kingdom of Heaven? Alan

Saved means you're a new creation in Christ

A: Jn. Ch. 3, Keep in mind that the meaning of Kingdom of Heaven and Kingdom of God in this context, are the same thing: God's rule in His child's heart. That only happens in the New Birth. In an instant, you switch natures, and fathers. Col. 1:13. Praise Him you Saints!
