Q: Does the Bible teach that money is the root of all evil?
A: No; it cannot be, because evil first manifested when there was no money. Lucifer's rebellion was prompted by pride, not money. (Is. 14:12-14, Eze. 28:17)
The KJV says in 1 Tim. 6:10 that, 'the love of money is the root of all evil.' Note, the love of money, not the money itself, being neutral. But 'all evil' refers to those evils mentioned in the preceding verse. The evils that come upon those eager to get rich.
However, the KJV translation of this verse is poor. Tyndale's (as usual) is superior, it cites covetousness as the root of all evil. Lucifer coveted supremacy. But in my view the NIV captures the meaning best here:
"For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil."
Note it is the love of money that is the snare, and it is a root, not the only root. Money is not evil, nor the root of evil; but lookout if you are eager to get rich, and discontented with your lot in Christ. (1 Tim. 6:6-9)
Q: Should God come first in my life, before having a relationship that has been on and off for three years? Sharon
A: The LORD Jesus Christ must come first in your life before all things Sharon. Only then will you stay on the narrow path. Mtt. 6:33, 7:14. If the 'relationship' involves sin, you have your answer.
Q: Is Satan real? Edwin
A: Of course, God's Word repeatedly proclaims his reality (Lk. 10:18, 22:3, 2 Co. 11:14, Rev. 20). And more importantly, Christ's complete Victory over the Devil. (Col. 2:15, Lk. 10:19)
Q: What does the Bible say about organ transplants?
A: God says there's one we all need, and must have: A heart transplant. (Eze. 11:19) It is performed by the Master Physician the instant a sinner is born again.
I once shared a bus ride with Malaysia's longest surviving heart transplant recipient. It was weird to talk with a 50 year old Chinese man who had the heart of a teenage girl. I asked the Lord for a way to share the Gospel, He reminded me, I was even weirder; a vet in who's breast He'd put the Heart of the Lion of Judah. Eze. 35:26. Some transplant!
You know Sir, we have something in common...
Q: Pregnancy pain was a curse that came on women for breaking God's command (Gen 3:16), believers shouldn't be under it, so why do Christians suffer pain in child birth? Sooraj
A: Now there's a man who has understood redemption. You are right Sooraj. Pregnant Christians do not have to suffer pain in giving birth if they will dare to believe, and claim it. I know one mighty woman preacher who did, she also claimed the sex, temperament, and eye colour, of her unborn child, and she was not disappointed. He said believers could ask for anything in His Name. (Jn. 14:14, 16:23-24)
Q: Is speaking in tongues the only initial evidence of being baptized in the Holy Ghost? Nika
A: Other evidences accompany it, but according to the Scriptures, tongues is the defining initial evidence. See Bible proof of baptism in the Holy Spirit. If you haven't got tongues you are not Spirit-filled.
