Power to follow The Leader

Q: I'm born-again, I quit drinking and doing heavy drugs, but have a hard time with cigarettes and speed (the legal kind). I asked Christ to take control of my life, but why can't I shake those habits. Jen

A: God doesn't make robots Jen. Jesus will not 'take control', Christ saves us then leads us in the way best for us. He leaves it to us to follow or not. His command to 'Follow me!' comes with all the power you need to obey it. Those who obey are blessed, those who compromise get in a mess.

Once saved, get filled with His Spirit, and obey your Lord in all things. It is not difficult. Get rid of everything associated with drugs (including cigarettes), and stay away from people who condone drug-taking.

Tip: An Iranian heroin addict got saved, and Spirit-filled, then listened to Gospel preaching and praise songs on his mp3 player. Whenever he felt tempted, he'd plug into the praise music, and just join in wholeheartedly wherever he was. I saw him standing at a bus-stop on Main St., eyes closed, in the Glory, and praising God for the Blood of Christ. Think about that, and learn from his example.

The victory is yours, walk in it. Depend totally on the power of the Spirit, not flesh, people, or chemical substitutes, but God alone.

A: All sexual intimacy outside of marriage is definitely sinful. Heb. 13:4 is crystal clear on this. See also 1 Co. 6:12-20, Eph. 5:3 and Rev. 22:15.

Same sex couples?

A: It is sin, forbidden, and those who fall into that trap suffer the consequences in their bodies, and are cast into Hell. Lev. 20:13, Ro. 1:26-27, 1 Co. 6:18, 6:9-10, Rev. 21:8, 22:15. Christ will redeem and release any homosexual, male or female, if they really want to be saved. 1 Co. 6:10, Ro. 10:13.
