Q: Jesus said to do good and love those who wrong you. In that case is the whole concept of the military wrong? Peter
Yes, completely wrong! Jesus made this perfectly clear when He rebuked Peter for defending Him with a sword, and commanded him to put it away, rebuking him sharply. See Mtt. 26:51-54. God in the Flesh gave this eternal word against the use of violence:
All who draw the sword will die by the sword.
That is why the antiChrist spirit has led the nations into This current madness. They are all doomed.
Q: What about Lk. 22:36, ... if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one. surely this means it is time to fight? Steve
A: This is the typical way Satan, in this case via the Uncle Sam Cult, distorts God's Word in order to contradict Him.
It was in God's Plan that Peter, hearing this, would be led astray by Satan again, and bring a sword to fight in Gethsemane, where he was roundly rebuked for using violence. No more of this! God said to him. Lk. 22:51. And thus prophesy was fulfilled. Mtt. 26:54.
Meditate on this: I have exchanged my filthy cloak for God's Sword: His Living Word. I suggest you do too. Heb. 4:12. It is the only weapon real Christians ever need.
Q: If someone is threatening your country, or has invaded your country, what is a Christian response? Peter
A: A Christian's country is Heaven, nationalism and 'patriotism' are of the Devil. Christians live in Christ. Stop and think about that Gospel fact. But even under the Old Covenant God provided a far better response to threats than the arm of flesh.
2 Ki. Ch. 19. A massive army of Assyrians besieged Jerusalem. Instead of trusting in the useless arm of flesh, Hezekiah turned to the LORD, their Defender, and 185,000 men were struck down in a single night: By God, not man. What would He do for a New Covenant child of His?
Q: Should a true Christian country spend the money allocated to the military on funding spirit filled missionaries, and helping the needy? Peter
A: Alleluia, somebody is thinking straight! Isn't that exactly what Christ meant when He told us to use worldly wealth to win friends in Heaven? Lk. 16:9. Generosity, kindness, mercy, and grace, are invincible when done in the Name of Jesus. Instead of spending billions of dollars on bombs, and making even more enemies, they should be used to make restitution, and bless enemies. Then see what God does to those who dare attack you. But, of course, there are no 'Christian countries'.
Q: Can I have a checklist of things that I can, and cannot do, such as; drinking, smoking, birth control, sex, etc. Kelly
A: Well, as hobbies go, you're safer sticking to knitting and stamp-collecting. Seriously though Kelly, I think you are looking for religion, not The Truth. Religion puts you in bondage, The Truth sets you free.
The answer to your question is, once saved; drink all you can, if you can, smoke all you can, if you can, and so on. The point being; when you are saved, you will not want to sin, and you will know inside where the line is drawn.
Understand the Gospel, get saved, and then ask Jesus to show you what these passages mean: 1 Co. 10:23, Eph. 5, Gal. 5, and Col. 3.
Q: All I want is to be guided by Truth in the Lord Jesus Christ, so how can I know if I am being led astray by false-teachers?
A: You have two vital witnesses: The written Word of God, and the Spirit of God in your heart. If what somebody says contradicts God's Word, they are wrong. Where the Holy Bible is not clear on something, 'listen' to the Holy Spirit in your heart, the Inner Witness, and He will help you to Discern the Truth.
Q: What are God's promises in Scripture?
A: Countless, and all are Yes, and Amen! in Jesus. 2 Co. 1:20. Start with these: God's Promises to Heal You. And learn from Smith Wigglesworth how to have faith in God's Promises so that you get Bible results.
Q: What are the fundamental truths of the Bible and Gospel of Christ?
A: Start with these: Five Facts Satan Hates.
Q: How can I get rid of demons?
A: If you are troubled by evil spirits personally, get saved, and start troubling them. If you want to drive them out of somebody, study this four part series of articles on Demons, Jesus, and You.
Q: You wrote that wearing a cross is idolatry, but what about a Christian fish symbol, College ring, or an Angel's baseball cap? Steve
A: All of those things could easily become an idol or charm.
If a person is sensitive to the Lord, and willing to honour Him from love, He will let them know directly. If they harden their hearts, He leaves them to their idols, like Ephraim. Hosea Ch. 4-5. When you've seen what I've seen Steve, you'll understand: Why God Hates Idolatry.
Q: What is the meaning of His Name: Jesus Christ?
A: You missed out the most important part: LORD means He is YHWH in the Flesh, Jesus is the Greek for the Hebrew Joshua, which means, The LORD saves, and Christ is the Greek for the Hebrew, Messiah, which means Anointed One. Add all of that up, and what have you got? More than a Carpenter, more than a Prophet. And He died for you.
Q: How do I walk in love?
A: Read How to Walk in Love.
Q: Who founded the born again Christian church?
A: The Founder is Almighty God, come and meet Him... How to be Born Again.
Q: What is meant by 'legalism', or 'becoming legalistic'?
A: The thinking, or attitude, that a person is made right with God by what they do, such as obeying The Law and Ten Commandments, good works, religious observance, baptism, and such like. None of these save anyone or ever bring God's peace, because there's only one way to Please God.
Q: Do you know of any miracles today?
A: Lots! Wherever believers believe like in the Bible they still get Bible results: Miracles Today.
