New Age Occult Remedies

Q: Are Yoga and Transcendental Meditation (TM) part of the occult, and do they leave me open to the Devil? JD

A: Indeed; both are entirely demonic and you should have nothing to do with either. See the emphatic warnings God has given us, for example; 1 Co. 10:18-23 and Deu. 5:7.

As people rebel against The Truth more and more in these Final Days, they fall easy prey to such occult snares. That is why the Devil is desperately promoting them along with other 'New Age' nonsense, such as aromatherapy, homeopathy, hypnosis, and acupuncture.

Why not simply repent and turn to your Creator; The LORD Jesus Christ? He made you, and He will fix whatever is wrong in your life as you learn to trust, obey, and follow Him.

Eating Meat

Q: Are Christians allowed to eat any form of meat? Sonia

A: Yes, anything sold in the meat market 1 Co. 10:25-26. That includes pig meat, even for Jewish Christians.

However, there's several delightfully sensitive qualifications about this topic in Ac. Ch.15, 1 Co. Ch.10, and Ch. 8. You see, some Christians haven't embraced this liberty in the Gospel, and those who have, are not to offend the consciences of the ones who haven't yet caught on, as in 1 Co. 10:28-33.

Note: The Adventists, also known as the SDA are not Christian, but a legalistic pseudo-Christian cult. They talk endlessly about Jewish 'food laws'. (And Sabbath-keeping, see below.) You can safely ignore all they say.

Which day is the Sabbath?

Q: Which day is The Sabbath Day; does it really matter whether it is a Saturday or a Sunday? Beybunui

A: To those under Law (the condemned) it is a Saturday. But for the saints of God (the redeemed) every day is a Sabbath. Heb. 4:9.

The Sabbath of the Law points sinners to the only way to have rest from labouring for peace: By trusting entirely in Christ's finished Sacrifice. Col. 2:16-17.

Tragically, people who argue about the Sabbath Day have missed the whole point of it. See Peace With God.

Christian Prayer

Q: How important should prayer be to the Born Again Christian?

A: Prayer is as vital as breathing. Inhale the life giving oxygen, and exhale the waste. But be careful to listen to God, as much as speak to Him.

He wants communication, not repetitive ritual rote prayers. And every prayer must be a prayer of faith.

When objects become idols

Q: We have some statues of a Chinese couple, and I am wondering where to draw the line between idols and art, or even toys, such as stuffed animals and Russian dolls. Brent

A: The Lord will bless you for such diligent concern to honour Him, Brent. A few years ago I would have answered don't worry about it, but since then I've seen how much the Lord detests idolatry. How subtle the enemy is in creating idols to lure people from Christ. How dangerous they are, and how God blesses those who repent wholeheartedly.

The quick answer is: Ask the Lord directly, and if you think He's telling you to destroy it, do so, no matter how 'precious', and He will bless you. It could be anything from a flower pot, to a valuable gift from a loved one. Read about Charms and the Occult.

Judaizers and Cults

Q: Rev. 12:17 and 14:12 state a true believer will be saved if they obey the Ten Commandments and have faith in Jesus. Does this reinstate the Sabbath and discard the Sunday service? David

A: No David! See the reply above about Sabbath days. The verses you cite don't make obeying the Ten Commandments a condition of salvation. If they did nobody could ever be saved. See What the Law is For.

They don't refer to the Ten Commandments, the Mosaic Law, but to the Royal Law of the New Covenant of Grace, specifically Christ's New Commandment: Jn. 6:29, 13:34 etc.

Ignore Judaizers and cults who try to rob the LORD Jesus Christ of His all-sufficiency. He saves to the uttermost, even the worst of sinners: By Grace alone. Come on you saints! Read what God says about Judaizers in Gal. 5:12. It'll make your eyes water.
