Tried by Fire

Q: Does someone have to "go through fire", or hard times, before they can say they have truly accepted Christ and been born again? Chifule

A: No, definitely not.

You explained that somebody asked you what difficulty in your life led you to Christ, and that you didn't come to Him that way.

Christians often get asked this when they are evangelising.

Sinners have the idea that only people in a desperate mess would call on God for salvation. They think junkies, alcoholics, perverts, and murderers need to be saved, but "normal" people don't.

Answer them using verses like Romans 3:10-12; and for those who are fat, rich, and happy, explain Mtt. 16:26 to them.

Another aspect comes to mind.

I've met some Christians who haven't understood the simplicity of the Gospel; how that we are born again through simple heart faith, and doing what Ro. 10:9-13 tells us to do to be saved.

In their minds they think this is too easy, so they make sinners jump through hoops. They mean well, but they are missing the mark.

What's the difference between Catholic and Born again?

Q: I am a Catholic, and would like to know what the difference is between the faiths. I've had my Baptism, communion and Confirmation. Why would I need to be born again; my faith is strong, and I go to Mass and pray. I have a friend with whom I've discussed being born again. I wouldn't want to do anything that is opposite to the teachings of my church. Maria

A: The Lord Jesus Christ is calling you to follow Him Maria, not your church, your "faith", or religious practices. You must be born again because He said so. Read the third chapter of John's Gospel asking the Lord to show you what it really means.

Your church proclaims a false Gospel of works, which only leads to Hell. To get to Heaven you must be saved by heart faith in Jesus. It is a once in a lifetime experience that comes to every sinner who repents and believes in Christ.

Compare the teaching of your "church" Catholic Catechism with what the Holy Bible says, then decide if you you are willing to renounce Catholicism, and become a Christian the Bible way.
