Rapture 2011?

Cult Radio Preachers

Q: Will the Rapture be on May 21st. 2011?

A: No, that's one of the many wrong teachings of a false prophet who is using the radio to lead people away from the Lord Jesus Christ. The same man said that Christ would return in 1994.

Like previous date-setting false prophets, when that one failed, he simply chose another date. He now says Christ will return on 20th. October 2011. Barmy!

Ignore him, he's led astray by demons. (1 Tim. 4:1) He likes the sound of his own voice, is not Spirit-filled, and doesn't even proclaim the basic Gospel.

The media are full of dodgy preachers like him, that is why it is essential to keep our eyes on Christ, and listen to His Word and Spirit, not men. (Heb. 12:2)

There certainly will be a Rapture of living believers (1 Th. 4:15-18), but nobody knows precisely when it, or the End of the World, will occur (Mtt. 24:36).

It's enough to know that The End is near (Mk. 13:28-31) because Christ promised He's coming back soon (Rev. 22:20). Be found busy doing what He told us to do, not wasting time listening to whackos on cult radio stations.

Another tongues question

Q: In Acts and 1 Co. Ch. 14 tongues are mentioned both as known and unknown languages. In Mark 16:17, Jesus speaks about tongues; is He referring to a known or an unknown language? What are the Greek word comparisons of these verses?

A: The same Greek word is used in all instances in Acts, 1 Co. 14 and Mk. 16:17. It is the word glossa and means simply "tongue". The context shows it means a language, especially one not learned naturally (See Strong's number 1100). Christ in Mk. 16:17 didn't specify if the language was known or not, because He knew the Holy Spirit would give clarification later in the Epistles.

The word is used in various ways, mostly implying an unknown language, and less frequently a known language.

Also keep in mind the difference between the Gift of tongues, and personal tongues in worship.

Why do you ask, are you being led astray by false teaching putting you off receiving this wonderful Bible blessing?

Receive the Baptism in the Holy Spirit, then you will have tongues too. Don't fuss over whether it is a known or unknown language, let the Holy Spirit decide that. (Ro. 8:26-28, 1 Co. 12:11)
