How to break addictions

Q: Is deliverance from addictions like smoking, and drinking alcohol, instant or a process? Jennifer

A: Interesting question. Salvation from such demonic bondage is instant. 2 Co. 6:2. Ro. 10:13. I know plenty of ex-junkies who stopped taking even hard drugs like Heroin and Opium just as soon as they were saved. Zap... Free at last!

The ones who struggle usually lack two things: They are not Spirit-filled, and they lack wholehearted repentance. So they are easily tempted to go back to sin.

It is according to your faith, so what do you believe Jenny? Has Christ set you free or not? Jn. 8:32. Do you rely on endless 'counselling', or upon The Counsellor? If you believe it will be a long drawn out process, that is the best you can achieve. When you believe it is done: It is done! That is the point of Jesus' words of Promise here: Mtt. 21:18-22.

What is Scripture for?

Q: What is the purpose of Scripture?

A: The OT Scripture points sinners to the Law in order to: 1) Convict them of sin. 2) Show them that they have utterly failed to keep the Law, and need to depend totally on The Promised Saviour.

The NT Scripture reveals the Promised Messiah, the only Man to have ever fulfilled, the Law perfectly. Sinners are pointed to Him as the sole way to be saved from God's wrath, and the coming Judgment.

Answer this: How can the Man who has kept God's Law save sinners from their guilt; what must He do for them?

Holy Bible or New Testament?

Q: Can the Word of God be complete without the Old Testament?

A: Understand that the Word of God is The LORD Jesus Christ, The Living God, not a book. Jn. 1:1. The Holy Bible is the written record of His Two Covenants. Two very different Covenants. The Holy Bible is not complete without the OT. But Christians are under the New Covenant, not the OT Covenant.

Much confusion is caused because many Christians haven't grasped or embraced this Gospel basic. Which Covenant are you under? The Purpose of the Law.

Dating Christians

Q: What does the Bible say about dating?

A: In English, the term dating carries seedy connotations prohibited to those who want to honour God. Eph. 5:1-7.

'Courting' is a more respectable pursuit, but both are signs that the person is missing God's best for their lives. If you make looking for a potential mate an ambition, you will surely fall into a snare.

Seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, and He will provide all you need. Mtt. 6:33. More on Sex and Marriage.

The Perfect Prayer

Q: What is the perfect prayer to receive what you need from God?

A: Fascinating question! God doesn't want to hear us recite prayers by rote. He's tired of religion, and wants you to pray in faith, believing, and from your own heart.

You can do this in your mother-tongue, and in your prayer tongues when you are filled with the Holy Spirit. This is a primary purpose of Tongues in personal devotions. We don't know what to pray for, so the Holy Spirit helps us pray effectively. See Ro. 8:26-27.

Reach out in Spanish

Q: Got any tracts in Spanish?

A: We have Christian Articles in Spanish and lots of Spanish Gospel Tracts.

Grace, Mercy and Peace

Q: What is the difference between Grace and Mercy?

A: See The Greatest Gospel Message by Dr. T. L. Osborn.

Hope for drug addicts

Q: My son is a crack addict, is there any hope?

A: Definitely, don't despair. I know many former junkies whom Christ has set free. It's the Anointing that breaks the yoke of drug addiction, not programmes, and chemical alternatives.

Look what happened to this drug-addled junkie when his Mum refused to yield to the Devil. She believed God, prayed, and the Anointing fell upon her son. Suicidal Junkie Saved.

Free from the Law

Q: Jesus said He did not come to cancel the Old Covenant, but to fulfil it, so how do you reconcile that with Col. 2:14 and Eph. 2:14-15?

A: Easily! Christ came under the Law to fulfil it perfectly, and then release Christians from its terrible burden. Under the New Covenant of Grace we are set free from the Law, as revealed to Paul after Christ's Ascension, and clearly stated in Col. 2:14 and Eph. 2:14-15.

Are you perhaps unclear which Covenant you are under? If the first, the OT, then you are doomed and condemned to Hell, because no-one but Christ has ever fulfilled it. Embrace the Gospel, the Good News of Christ.
