Q: I'm a Catholic, I met Pentecostal Christians who educated me on things like being born again. I'm totally convinced I must do it. Who carries out the baptism? I understand I must read a sinners prayer and be baptised, but I'm confused as to when to do it all? I mean do I have to read the prayer in front of whoever baptises me? What is the process? Christopher
A: Getting saved is not a process or formal ritual, and baptism in water doesn't save anyone.
You must be saved before you are baptised in water, or the baptism is pointless.
Many cults teach that you are saved at the time of water baptism. That is a false-teaching, and you should avoid such people.
I suggest you find and attend some genuine Christian meetings, simply observe and listen until you get the idea.
You will have many opportunities during the preaching to get saved the Bible way. Once you understand what you're doing, respond there and then. After you are saved, then you can get baptised in water as a testimony of your new birth.
Q: I'm a typical Aussie male. I enjoy a few beers with my mates, which I understand is okay as long as I don't over indulge. I also enjoy a bet on horses, as horse racing is something I enjoy, but I never gamble stupid amounts, and never leave myself short, or gamble money that's not mine.
What does God say about these things? I know a lot of Christians don't drink because it's hard to preach to drunks smelling of alcohol, but I feel it can work the other way too.
A: Don't let those things concern you now, once you are saved God will make you a new person on the inside. (2 Co.5:17) He will change the desires of your heart. (Jer. 24:7, Eze. 36:26) Things you now love, you will hate; things you now detest, you will adore. It isn't a matter of rules, but of loving obedience.
However, all gambling is sin. Stop and think why this is so; you are relying on luck, and fortune, not the LORD, and you are also coveting wealth.

Q: My brother is gravely ill. He cannot breathe on his own, and cannot speak. The machine helping him to breathe requires a tube to be inserted into his throat. After he mentally prays for salvation, asking Jesus to come into his heart and forgive him of his sins, if I ask him if he prayed, and he affirms by nodding his head, will God accept that as a confession of faith? Harry
A: Yes, I'm sure the Lord will take him if he sincerely repents in his heart; knowing he would confess with his mouth if it wasn't full of medical equipment. (Ro. 10:9-10)
He will heal him completely too if you will only believe. I've seen comatose people on their death-bed respond wonderfully to the prayer of faith, and anointing with oil in Jesus' Name. (Jas. 5:14-15)
New birth days are much more fun than funerals.
