Introduction

'The blood of Christ...(will) cleanse our consciences from useless rituals, so that we may serve the living God!'
Holy Bible, Heb 9:14 NIV

Blood-washed Servants of the Living God!

Don't limp through life with a tortured conscience, let Jesus' Blood wash away every trace of guilt and pain. Then listen to your conscience with new ears.

Do you have pet superstitions and rituals?: Throwing salt over your shoulder, praying the rosary, carrying a lucky horseshoe, or wishing upon a star? God has a lot to say about such things, along with astrology, horoscopes, and that cross on your necklace. Read what He wants you to do with it.

Ben was a drug dealing biker who tried to kill himself when he despaired of his wretched lifestyle. But now he has no time to die, he's too busy loving sinners to New Life in Christ.

E-pistles tackles a conundrum about Christ's divinity frequently posed by the cults. And here's the Evangelism question both God and sinners are keenly waiting for you to ask.

The only good thing to come out of the satanic slave trade is Black Gospel Music: we point you to the best.

Are You Superstitious?

What have the Titanic, rabbit's feet, flying pigs, a shaman dying of cancer, and old wive's tales got to do with you?

Plenty if you have not yet repented of superstitions.

What is God's attitude to people who trust in fate, luck, astrology, and horoscopes? Do you have charms in your home, or perhaps a cross in your pocket?

If so, you better read this...

The wages of sin is death and when this drug dealing biker came to the end of the road, Ben said he was so far gone even Jesus couldn't help him.

So he decided to kill himself by overdosing on heroin, cocaine and crystal. He injected enough of the lethal mixture to slay an elephant, then waited to die.

Satan had Ben by the throat, but his Mother's faith in Christ was more than enough to work a miracle...

Editor's Perspective

Our Murdering Maniacs

The head of the Reuters News Agency described, with ample justification, the US invaders of Iraq as 'out of control'. He was lamenting the highest number of unarmed journalists killed in any conflict by 'friendly fire'. But professional journalists choose to risk their lives by being embedded with psychos, the greater war crimes are committed against innocent Iraqi civilians.

US Marine, Jimmy Massey described how they 'light-up' civilians with a hail of gunfire, and how his troop roared with laughter as a wounded civilian, his foot hanging by sinews, tried to hop out of range. Massey left the Marines, revolted by what he was doing. He called it genocide, and blamed the US President for lying to them about the purpose of their invasion.

The crimes Jimmy was committing are the rule, not the exception. The people of Fallujah know from first hand experience, they describe the trigger-happy paranoid US forces as the 'Murdering Maniacs'.

The results of a recent Ministry of Defence survey make a mockery of the choreographed propaganda served up by the BBC and US media, no wonder they dare not report it.

The Daily Telegraph had more integrity, they told how it shows millions of Iraqis believe that suicide attacks against invading troops are justified. This, remember, in a nation which has never had a civil war, or seen any suicide bombers until now. Up to 65% of Iraqi citizens support such actions, and less than 1% think US UK military involvement is helping improve security. 82 per cent are 'strongly opposed' to the presence of coalition forces, 67% of Iraqis feel less secure because of the occupation. 43% of Iraqis say peace and stability have worsened.

A sergeant in the 82nd Airborne Division bragged about his cook, who, to vent his frustration, did what they all did, which was head to the prisoners tent to torture them. He told a prisoner to bend over, hold onto a pole, and then he fractured his leg with a baseball bat. Small stuff compared to the US pilot who last week killed 39 civilians, including women and children, in a single swoop on Ramadi.

Jimmy Massey had the guts to listen to his conscience and get out:

"I killed innocent people for our government. For what? What did I do? Where is the good coming out of it? I feel like I've had a hand in some sort of evil lie at the hands of our government. I just feel embarrassed, ashamed about it. I honestly feel that what we're doing is wrong over here. We're committing genocide".

Mad George doesn't listen to our murdering maniacs: do you?

Subscriber's Q & A: How can God die?

Adam asks, How did Jesus die on the cross. Did He die as a man or as God? If He died as a man then why is He part of the Trinity? Also if He died as a man then his dying would not be sufficient to cleanse the sin of humanity because man is not perfect? If He died as God then does that mean God dies?

This is typical of the 'riddle approach' of the cults, and easy to answer.

Jesus Christ is the LORD Almighty in the Flesh. God says so over and over in the Bible, here's just one clear example.

For in Christ all the fulness of the Godhead lives in bodily form... Col. 2:9

As much as it is possible to get of Almighty God in the human frame was present in the LORD Jesus Christ.

God's Word declares He is both fully human and fully divine. God came from Heaven, and lived on earth as the Perfect Man: sinless. He submitted to God's Law and fulfilled it faultlessly as a Man. Then He laid down His sinless life, offered it up on the Cross: The only Sacrifice for the sins of mankind.

This has got to become more than doctrine to you Adam. Put your trust in Christ and then you will know it as God's Truth: Gospel fact. You'll have the testimony of God in your heart confirming it. You must trust Him first before He gives you the witness.

Did God die? He surely did, in Christ Jesus, and was raised to life to prove your debt is paid in full.

Charles Wesley's salvation hymn exclaims, ''Tis mystery all! The Immortal dies!' He took on a Body, lived as a Man, and offered up His Life to redeem those who believe. The Immortal One thought you were worth dying for.

Repent and put your whole trust in Him, in His integrity and divinity, then you will be saved.

Power Evangelism Tip

I'm so glad you ASKed...

Whilst evangelizing try to keep in mind how spiritually dense you were before you got saved. I certainly was. Despite reading John's Gospel and wiping tears continually, I honestly hadn't a clue why I was feeling that way. I'd read it many times previously, but never been so touched. It was curiosity about this reaction that motivated me to look for some Christians to discover what was happening. (I found them in the Auckland Yellow Pages, but that's another story.)

It's blindingly obvious now, and since then I've had the joy of seeing many people in the same state.

Here's how to handle the situation:

1) Ask the Lord what He wants you to do. He gets right to the point doesn't He? One option is to start at Genesis and concisely explain the Gospel and lead them to Christ. I've got pals who always follow this path with success, but it's a tad mechanical, and sinners can feel as though they're 'being processed'... like peas. So instead, I prefer to ask Jesus what to say or do to get them nearer to Him. That's when it becomes really exciting.

2) Learn to trust Jesus and obey the Holy Spirit in your heart, God leads by the inner witness. You will know what to do or say. He often tells me to, 'Just love them.'

One day, I was opening a bank account in a Muslim country. As I sat and gave my details to the Lady Clerk, I prayed for the Lord to help me bring her to Christ. He led me to quietly tell her how much He loves her, and what He had done for her. She kept her head bowed filling out the bank forms, as I spoke. After a couple of minutes of this, she looked up, her eyes streaming with tears, and said, 'Please stop Sir! You're touching my heart and I'm making a scene.' So I let her regain her composure, then gave her a John's Gospel and a Chick tract. Next day, I visited the bank and a beautiful joyous smile replaced her tears: she'd given her heart to Christ.

3) Ask the sinner if they would like to 'pray to receive Christ'. Or if they'd like to 'pray with you'. So often Christians neglect this vital point. Some get off on a doctrinal tangent, or tell what Jesus has done in other people's lives, and they forget the whole point of the meeting: Jesus wants you to lead them to Him now, so give the opportunity. ASK them!

Summary:

1) Ask the LORD how to proceed
2) Do or say what He tells you to
3) Ask them if they'd like to pray to receive Christ
