Common Christian jargon explained simply.
See Baptism
A Christian belonging to a Baptist Fellowship, which practices biblical water baptism: By total immersion following salvation through faith in Christ.
A Christian choosing to live in disobedience to the Word of God. Many people who describe themselves as backslidden are actually nominal 'Christians'; they've never been saved. Others are saved but have not been filled with God's Spirit. Some simply chose to rebel against the revelation of God's Word.
To accept, trust in, and depend upon sincerely from the heart. Heart belief has corresponding actions: In contrast to mental assent or head-belief, which often manifests as hypocrisy.
One who believes biblically, that is, genuinely, with their whole heart.
To give evidence or testimony of: the veracity of God's Word, the Gospel, Christ's resurrection etc.
'My spirit bears witness' means the Christian has inner spiritual confirmation or conviction of something.
The complete cannon of the 66 Books comprising Almighty God's Word revealed to man, by direct inspiration through the Holy Spirit. The Apocrypha, included in corrupted Bible versions, are not God's Word.
Establishment where students study the Bible, and Biblical history etc. Often staffed by unsaved Theologians who promote Ecumenical error.
To read and learn from God's written Word by personal revelation of God's Spirit.
Refers to the actual Blood of the LORD Jesus Christ, fully human, fully divine, shed on behalf of mankind for the remission of sins. After His resurrection, Christ presented His own Blood in the Holy of Holies as full payment for the redemption of believers.
It is symbolised by the wine of the Lord's Supper, and in the OT by the 'type' of animal blood used in Jewish ordinances.
Christians are redeemed through heart-faith in Christ's Sacrifice on their behalf, the core of which is His Blood.
To 'plead the Blood of Christ' is to petition God in prayer on the Covenant basis of Christ's Blood, which clears their debt to God.
The Church, consisting of all true believers, the present day representation of Christ on earth.
Synonymous with the Body of Christ, meaning the Church, all true believers.
A person is said to 'be in bondage' when they are controlled, or bound, by a sinful habit, compulsion, or evil spirit. It is also used of those poor people held in bondage by legalistic teaching.
Mentioned eight times in the New Covenant, it is Heaven's record of the saved. The instant a sinner repents and believes the Gospel their name is recorded in the Book of Life.
At the Final Judgment, all whose name is not in the Book of Life are cast into Hell.
And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. Rev. 20:12
And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Rev. 20:15
To be spiritually united with Almighty God through simple heart-faith in the LORD Jesus Christ. The sinner dies to their old self, and is made a new creation on Baptism into Christ by the Holy Spirit.
NB Not a denomination, group, or philosophy. To be born again is to become a Christian. If a sinner is not genuinely born again: The person is not a Christian, that is why Jesus taught, You must be born again. Jn.3:7 Are you?
A Christian.
All Christians are brothers, or brethren, by sharing the same Heavenly Father. The term includes women and girls, who are more usually described as sisters.
