Newspaper headlines announce his demise; churning out adoring profiles and obituaries, whilst a billion Roman Catholics weep their way to Hell.

'Holy Father' Dead: Pope John Paul II Dies

A suitably grave-faced senior Cardinal announces his successor. 'The pope is dead: long live the pope.' The sinister religious system rolls on with a subdued sigh of relief: For now the last act begins. The pontiff's death takes us a step closer to the appointment of a Biblically significant figure: The AntiChrist's False Prophet of Revelation Chapters 16,19, and 20.

Martin Luther was not the first to denounce the pope as the AntiChrist by declaring:

"We here are of the conviction that the papacy is the seat of the true and real AntiChrist. Personally, I declare that I owe the Pope no other obedience than that to AntiChrist."

Two centuries before Luther, John Wickliffe said of the pope:

"Why is it necessary in unbelief to look for another AntiChrist?"

Each of the great Reformers took this view of the Roman Catholic leadership. Listen to John Knox:

"As for your Roman Church... I no more doubt that it is the synagogue of Satan."

The peerless Bible translator William Tyndale said: "I defy the pope, and all his laws. If God spare my life, 'ere many years I will cause a boy that driveth the plough to know more of the Scripture than he does."

John Calvin: said of the pope, "I deny him to be the Vicar of Christ, who, in furiously persecuting the Gospel, demonstrates by his conduct that he is AntiChrist."

They were right of course; Catholicism is profoundly antiChristian, putting the idolatrous Mass in place of the Living God, the Lord Jesus Christ. Who Himself warned that no idolater would enter Heaven.

Outside (of Heaven) are the dogs, those who practise magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood. I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. Holy Bible, Rev. 22:15-16 NIV

The Lord Jesus Christ said idolaters are thrown into the Lake of Fire in Hell;

But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practise magic arts, the idolaters and all liars - their place will be the fiery lake of burning sulphur. This is the second death. Rev. 21:8

In addition to the blatant idolatry of the Mass, so eloquently denounced by John Knox, Catholicism is replete with idols. Followers are positively encouraged to bow down to stone and wooden idols of all shapes and forms, including; Fatima, Mary, saints and Apostles, the 'Eucharist' (literally: 'New Christ'), and crucifixes of all sizes.

Pope John Paul set the example of rebelling against the plain Word of God:

You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them. Deut. 5:8

All popes have done this because all popes are antiChrists: not The AntiChrist himself, as prophesied in Daniel, Thessalonians and Revelation, but clearly antiChrists. Why not the AntiChrist? Because the AntiChrist will be a non-religious figure (probably a Jew), listen to Daniel describe him:

He will show no regard to the gods of his fathers or for the one desired by women (Christ), nor will he regard any god, but will exalt himself above them all. Dan. 11:37

The AntiChrist will be more of a charismatic political leader. He will however appoint a religious figure as his False Prophet (Rev. 16,19,20) who in the final days will lead people to worship the AntiChrist.

The False Prophet is almost certain to be the Roman Catholic pope; which is why real Christians watch with great interest to see who is chosen to lay claim to be the next, 'Vicar of Christ on Earth'.

The Holy Spirit warns about imposters:

For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, that his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve. 2 Co. 11:13-15
