You are not made to drown is a sea of doubt, fear, and sin, you were created to walk in loving faithful union with Almighty God. His kingdom is at hand, and He wants you to learn that you too can walk on water. There is sufficient power in God's Word to enable anyone to fulfil it when they do three simple things.
Throughout Christ's ministry we see Him calling sick people to do the impossible;
To the man who's arm was withered: Stretch out your hand.
To a man paralysed 38 years: Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.
To the paralytic lowered through the roof: I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.
He told a man born blind to do something easy: Go, wash in the Pool of Siloam, the man did, and instantly began to see.
This is Almighty God at work, and He hasn't changed His ways.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today, and forever. Holy Bible Heb.13:8 NIV
Aren't you glad about that?
There are similar examples in the Old Testament. God's prophet, Elisha, instructed Naaman the leper to, Go and wash seven times in the Jordan and you'll be healed. The Syrian Arab swallowed his pride, obeyed the Word of God wholeheartedly, and was completely healed of leprosy. 2 Ki. Ch 5
May God give you the ability to see that it is impossible for Him to break His Word. What God has promised, God will deliver. Only believe!
Christ lived His whole life on earth walking in the Spirit, as all believers are commanded to do. Not listening to the spirit of the age: In the world, but not of the world. We are citizens of Heaven, on Earth, following The Counsellor, the Spirit of God.
Now please look at this: Matthew 14:22-36
Our Saviour had just received a crushing blow, His close relative (and in Christ's opinion, the greatest man born of woman) John the Baptist, had been butchered for daring to present God's Word to King Herod.
Understandably, Jesus sought solitude, however crowds came after Him, and full of compassion, the Messiah healed all the sick. When they were hungry, El Shaddai, The God who's more than enough, showed us how to feed a multitude with five bread-rolls and two sardines.
Give your all to God, and He'll give you a supernatural abundance, don't miss that lesson. He sent the crowd home happy, healed, and well fed. That's God.
Then follows one of those miracles that seem hard to understand, like cursing the barren fig tree, or turning water into wine (hic). God commanded the disciples to sail to Gennesaret, whilst Jesus walked most of the way across stormy Lake Galilee. Why?
To prove He's Lord, to show He has dominion over nature, (and give the disciples a fright). Certainly, but there's more to it than that, it's vital that you understand this.
Christ did nothing by Himself; He depended totally on God the Father, and on God the Holy Spirit. Halleluia! Can you see it coming? Although He is Almighty God in the Flesh, He operated under the Old Covenant as a man depending upon God. Glory!
He took upon Himself humanity, and lived under Law, as we were meant to do, but never sinned once. Praise Him you Saints! He kept God's Law perfectly, so enabling Him to be the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
So when Father told Jesus to walk across the Lake, Christ as a man, did not waver in unbelief, but in faith obeyed, just like you can. Jesus was proving His faith, and Father endorsed His confidence in God's integrity. 'Since God told me to walk on water, I can walk on water because He told me to.' This is the lesson for us.
What happened next proves the point. Against the fury of the storm, the disciples struggled in their boat, and freaked-out seeing a figure walking on the water. We would too, wouldn't we? Jesus called to reassure them, and Peter replied,
Lord if it is you, tell me to come to you on the water.
Peter got an if, refused to believe the evidence of his ears and eyes, and demanded a miracle to prove he was talking to God. Sound familiar?
Ever patient, the Lord gave the command.
'Come.'
'Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came towards Jesus.'
Lord open our eyes to see how powerful that is.
Don't get distracted by Peter's sinking after a few steps when he gave-in to doubt and fear, (we know doubters get cold-feet, and often wet ones) instead grasp this point. We expect the LORD Jesus Christ to walk on water because He's both Man and God, but here we have Peter, fully man, and not God, also walking on water. How did he do it?
He heard God's Word, Come. He believed God's Word. He obeyed God's Word.
Beloved, there is sufficient power in God's Word to enable anyone to fulfil it when they do these three simple things. Hear, believe, obey. You can, because God's Words contain the power for you to fulfil them. That is shouting-ground in my estimation.
Add to this revelation the fact that God's Word is eternal, and you'll begin to see why demons tremble when a real believer starts to really believe.
The other disciples sat in the boat gawping instead of walking on water too. They missed their opportunity through fear and unbelief. We have a choice to be listeners and spectators, or hearers and doers. Which do you think please God the most? Who is it that receives God's endorsement? Who gets the job done?
The lesson you learned quickest was the one you got through experience, not from some dead sermon: True or false?
Saints, remember we are not under Law, but stand in the grace of God because of the New Covenant. Our errors, omissions, transgressions and mistakes are provided for, so we can revel in the fullness of what Christ won for us.
If anybody does sin we have one who speaks to the Father in our defence, Jesus Christ the Righteous One. 1 Jn. 2:1
Let's be bold in fulfilling His Commission. He told us to Go into all the world. Hear that now. He said to tell the Good News of His Eternal Victory.
He told us to heal the sick. It is not enough to pray for the sick, He told us to heal them. Comprehend the power in that command, obey it, and you'll see the Glory of God. If you don't yet know how to heal the sick, the anointed books below will teach you.
In the Old Testament we read about Elijah in 1 Ki. 17:4-7 drinking from the brook at Kidron, and fed by Ravens. Sadly, his brook dried up, poor Elijah.
But, I have good news for you today; there is a river whose streams make glad the people of God. Ps. 46:4 One who's springs never run dry. Jn. 7:38 It is the River that flows from the Throne of God. Rev. 22:1
The water of His Spirit anointed Word, eternal, true, everlasting, upholding, supplying, and empowering that which it says. Peter reminds us that we can escape the corruption of this world through the very great and precious promises of God. 2 Pe. 1:3-4 That includes the corruption of doubt, unbelief, sin, sickness, fear, and every demonic oppression.
In conclusion: Having passed the trial of His faith, Jesus landed in Gennesaret just as God commanded Him to do, and He healed all the sick.
He heard, He believed, He obeyed.
Despite Satan's best efforts to defeat Him, He trusted completely in the integrity of God's Word, and overcame the enemy, just like you will today.
Through simple faith and obedience you too can walk on water, and be more than a conqueror!
F.F. Bosworth knew the Asuza street revivalists personally, and taught T.L. Osborn all he knew.
Soak it up, and continue the ministry until He comes.
There's still plenty of work to do, and these books will equip you.
