Q: Is being slain in the Spirit Biblical?
A: Sometimes yes, and occasionally no. Don't be afraid of it, the real thing is Biblical. Jn. 18:6, Mtt. 28:4, 17:6, Ac. 9:4, 26:14, etc. It happened often in George Whitefield's, John Wesley's, and Woodworth-Etter's meetings, and is a feature of the current revival. But sadly, I've seen it become a conditioned fad in some Charismatic fellowships, robbing believers of the real experience.
Q: Is it possible to be saved and never speak in tongues? Daysha
A: The Baptism in the Holy Spirit is an experience subsequent to salvation, but many Christians refuse it, and suffer the consequences such as powerlessness, readily falling prey to temptations, and backsliding etc. Get the power baptism!
Q: I think that 'The Chronicles of Narnia' are evil because you cannot mix evil and Christianity together and call it Christian. What do you think? Megan
A: Dreadful stuff isn't it? It's another example of ecumenical mixture, replacing the Gospel with a morality message. C. S. Lewis, its author, was typical of English church-goers, nominally 'Christian': Religious and unsaved. He was also a close chum of Tolkein, the Catholic author of the demonic 'Lord of the Rings'.
Q: What is the Baptism of fire?
A: Lk. 3:16b John the Baptist baptised in water as an outward sign of heart repentance and turning to God. He prophesied the Baptism with the Holy Spirit and fire, first poured out on the Day of Pentecost. (Ac. Ch.2) 'Fire' here is a rich metaphor for the Holy Ghost fire that empowers all genuinely Spirit-filled believers. They become living flames for Christ: On fire for His Glory, and for lost souls. Heb. 1:7.
Q: As a Born-Again Christian is it important for me to preach to non-Christians, and attempt to recruit them?
A: Without a doubt. In fact it is the only reason you are still on Earth. See Jn. 20:21, Mtt. 28:20, Mk. 16:15, but you're not 'recruiting' them, it's not some cult like the Mormons or Catholics, you point them to the LORD Jesus Christ, who will save them eternally. How to lead people to Christ.
Q: Is it Biblical to bind Satan, and can we tell him to get behind us like Jesus did?
A: Unquestionably! See Mtt. 18:18, 16:19, and Mk. 3:27 Binding the strongman, and exercising your Blood-bought authority over our defeated foe is what we are commanded. Unless we do, he runs a circus in our lives. Jesus has put your foot on Satan's neck, keep it there. This is all by faith, so learn how faith works.
Are there any contradictions in the Bible?
A: None whatsoever, God does not contradict Himself. Every point cited as an apparent 'contradiction' is due to the critic failing (or not wanting) to understand the truth. There's plenty of excellent Christian books refuting and explaining them all in detail. Type 'Josh McDowell' into our book shop search box.
Q: How did the world population grow when Adam and Eve were the only people God had created in the Garden of Eden?
A: Ahh! It's time to ask your Mum for a private chat about the 'birds and the bees'.
Q: I had a hysterectomy, but if my husband and I believe in faith will Jesus heal me so that we can have a baby?
A: No question about it! There have been many such creative miracles. God hasn't forgotten how to make eyes, ears, teeth, limbs, wombs, or any organ. But why would you want to have a child in these final wicked days, when our priority is proclaiming Christ to the ends of the Earth? Instead, plant Gospel Seed, and you will see the promise of Gal. 4:27 in your life, Be glad, O barren woman... more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband.
Q: What's your take on the Da Vinci Code - obviously it's not true, but do you have any specific ideas on how to combat the influence it is creating?
A: I try not to get distracted from proclaiming The Truth, or let the enemy set the agenda. But sometimes the Lord does get me to denounce deceptions like The Passion of Christ film. This article has set lots of Catholics free.
'Ideas?' Well, how about pointing out that the Da Vinci Code kind of filth always picks on One Guy. Never; Buddha, Mohammed, Krishna, Confucius, Ghandi, or anyone else. The fact that the LORD Jesus Christ is the most popular target tells us something significant.
Q: Would it be wrong to go and see the Da Vinci Code in view of all the blasphemy in the film?
A: Definitely! But you might consider handing out tracts to people running into the snare. See Eph. 5:11-16
Q: I desperately want to be saved, but something seems to hold me back, what can I do?
A: 1) Unless you are truly prepared to turn away from all known sin in your life Christ won't come in. So examine your heart now, and ask Him to show you what the blockage is. He will reveal it to you personally.
2) Once you are willing to repent, and do what He tells you, read John's Gospel as though you'd never read it before, asking The LORD Jesus Christ Himself to teach you.
3) Study How To Be Born Again carefully, then do what it says.
Q: 1 Pe. 2:24 says I'm healed, so why do I experience pain in my foot from my bone spurs?
A: That's easy, you've not understood or used Bible faith. Without it you'll walk by sight until you drop. Read 'Jesus the Healer', 'Two Kinds of Faith' (See above) and Healing the Sick then you'll catch on to real faith.
Q: How did Adam and Eve's children reproduce?
A: Just like normal people do. Great question! I know what you're getting at. They obeyed the command of God to be fruitful and increase Ge. 1:28. It was not counted as incest in that era, only when the Levitical Laws were introduced did it become taboo. See Lev. 18:6.
Q: The New World Order is upon us, I feel people must act against those that are corrupt, what role can Christians play here?
A: You're correct the leaders of the major nations are corrupt and following the antiChrist spirit, not Christ. It's astonishing how easily America has been seduced.
'What should Christians do?' Be alert, expose their duplicity, and proclaim The Truth. Eph. 5:6-17 has broad application today.
Q: Is there any limit in what situations we can raise the dead in Jesus' Name?
A: You're thinking the wrong way around. God doesn't do what we tell Him to do, rather, we are to do what He tells us to do. Peter could not walk on water until Christ said, "Come!". The power is in the command. The key is to listen to the Holy Spirit, and do as we are told, with complete faith in His Word.
Q: Since Jesus commanded the storm to cease, does that mean that believers can do that in His Name, if it is necessary.
A: Of course, nothing is impossible with God. But see the answer above. Rheinhard Bonnke did this when a storm arose threatening his massive African Gospel tent. It was the biggest tent ever built at the time, and as the storm came he commanded Satan to leave it alone in Jesus' Name, and warned that if he didn't obey, Bonnke would build one twice as big.
The dark clouds instantly parted, and the storm went around the tent leaving it unscathed. Bonnke, then continued rejoicing, "No deals with you Satan, I'm going to build one twice as big anyway!" And he did.
Q: When children who are too young to be born again die, do they go to Hell?
A: No, God's grace covers them until they reach the age of decision. We know because of David's words concerning the death of his week-old illegitimate baby. Read the story in 2 Sam. Ch. 12 and note verse 23. Ask Jesus to show you its significance.
Q: I read the section on Bible versions, and you really opened my eyes... am I right to have concerns about the NIV?
A: The NIV is an excellent translation, in some areas superior to the KJV. Personally, I prefer the NIV for communicating the message in English, and I use the KJV for doctrinal verification. Use both daily, and listen to the Holy Spirit as you read. More on KJV onlyism.
Q: Can Jesus save gay people?
A: Only the LORD Jesus Christ can save anyone. Sodomy and lesbianism are demonic perversions. Ro. 1:18-32. Any homosexual can be saved if they are willing to repent and follow Christ.
Q: Who is in charge of Hell?
A: Since His resurrection from the dead, The LORD Jesus Christ has stripped Satan of his authority and held the keys of death and Hell. Rev. 1:18.
