A resumé of the purpose, people, and ministry behind the Born-Again-Christian.Info website

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called, Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end.

He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this. Holy Bible Is. 9:6-7 NIV

The LORD Jesus Christ

Colin

Born Again Christian Info tm is the online branch of the ministry of Colin Melbourne and friends. Colin is an English veterinarian and zoologist who was saved in 1988 at a Spirit-filled Baptist fellowship, whilst back-packing around New Zealand. You can read his salvation testimony here.

In 1990 the Lord sent the host to the mission field to evangelize in South-East Asia, confirming His Message with signs, miracles and wonders, and personally supplying everything that is required to fulfil His command to "Go Tell!" Much of his ministry is in nations that try to restrict the proclamation of the Gospel, so you will understand that we are reticent about broadcasting any details over the internet.

Born-Again-Christian.Info has one purpose, to proclaim the Gospel of The LORD Jesus Christ until He comes. We do no active fund-raising, relying entirely upon the Lord to meet our needs. All of our ministry both online, and in the real-world is completely free. We are not affiliated with any individual organization, though we are in happy fellowship with all genuine Believers. Our Statement of Faith is typical of most Spirit-filled Christians, such as Pentecostals, Charismatic and Baptists.

The people we lead to Christ are not directed to join any specific fellowship or organization. We proclaim Christ, point sinners to Him, and disciple Saints to listen to Him, depend upon Him, and follow Him. (Though we do warn new believers to avoid the Cults, such as RC's, JW's, Mormons, SDA (Adventists), ICC, UPC, 'Church of Christ', and the rest.)

For the curious, here's some information on how the Lord called Colin to the mission field.

Missionary Call

If you haven't yet read Sox and The Meaning of Life : Click here and find out how I discovered the huge difference between Religion and Jesus. And how the LORD transformed a real-life James Herriot into a Spirit-filled missionary in Asia.

I travelled to the UK a month after I was saved in New Zealand, and continued working as a veterinary locum all over Great Britain.

Meanwhile, I grew in the Lord, lapping-up all the milk God poured out, and attended every Spirit-filled service I could find in whatever town I was working in.

Spirit-filled means baptised in the Holy Spirit with the Bible evidence of speaking in tongues. If you don't speak in tongues, you are not yet filled with God's Spirit. God's Word says so. Without being filled, you can't do what Jesus did, nor can you do what He wants you to do. So get filled now.

Whilst in Northumberland, I attended a Baptist service on Sunday morning, and a New Life service Sunday evening. Both were Spirit-filled, but each only had one Sunday Service. I wondered what the other Christians did on Sundays.

I witnessed of Christ at every opportunity, often street-evangelizing on nights off-duty. Several times I was reprimanded by my veterinary bosses for taking time to pray for clients. Once I prayed for a crippled teenager who held a cow, whilst I pared its hooves. The girl was healed, and immediately threw away her crutch. When her father heard, he was furious. He was a Methodist churchman, who didn't believe in Christ healing people today. He phoned my boss to complain,

I'm paying you to treat mi' cows, not for prayin' time.

I was soon shown the door by my boss. Perhaps your zeal for sharing the Good News has got you booted out of a job? If so, well done, God's going to promote you, you'll see.

Over the next few months, I prayed about setting up my own Veterinary Practice. But God had other ideas. Everywhere I went, some believer would have a word for me about being a missionary.

I'd enter a Spirit-filled service, or prayer meeting, and a total stranger would come up to me, and tentatively wonder if, "What they had, was from the Lord."

It almost always was.

"Sinners will turn back to the Lord through you."

I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will turn back to you. Ps. 51:13

"Have you thought of becoming a missionary?"

"The Lord has a missionary ministry for you."

From New Zealand to Scotland, I heard the same things from Spirit-filled strangers. As if this wasn't enough, the Lord even used Colin Urquhart (the UK's foremost Evangelist), to personally bring a similar prophetic word of confirmation and encouragement to me.

WARNING: I've had plenty of Christians do the same, whose message was not from the Lord. Usually, they are brash, unloving, and offended if you don't accept what they pronounce as 'Hot from God's lips.' You will know when it really is from God.

I was also deeply moved by a passage in Judges about the Tribes of Israel fighting for the Lord, and how some of them felt at being tucked away safe at home far from the front lines.

There was much searching of heart. Why did you stay among the campfires to hear the whistling for the flocks? The people of Zebulum risked their very lives; So did Naphtali on the height of the field. See all of Judges Ch. 5

Meanwhile, I tried to buy a veterinary practice. I loved being a vet. "I'm a vet Lord." I reminded Him in prayer. He'd clearly forgotten.

One day, a lovely Geordie Preacher called Sid Niven, cornered me with an obvious burden from the Lord. He had no idea I'd been planning to start a new practice, as he prophesied,

I have called you, I have chosen you, I will change the desires of your heart.

And more along that line. This gave me great peace. If God was really calling me to be a missionary He would change my desires.

You guessed. All of my considerable efforts to buy a practice, or property were gently, but firmly blocked by Jesus. The final-straw was ringing to see if my offer had been accepted for a commercial property in the North of England. It was ideal as a veterinary practice, I'd be the only vet for miles around. A Christian James Herriot. I offered the exact price the seller asked. Though it had been for sale for months, he turned me down, saying he'd decided to keep his shop.

A week or so later, I was in a famous farm fellowship in Yorkshire, called Hollybush Farm. It is a Church on a working farm. A book has already been written about the Lord's miracles there.

I was totally unknown in the service, and a message came in tongues, which was immediately interpreted by Jim Wilkinson, a local FGBMF leader.

Looking straight at me he prophesied,

I have opened a door for you. Do not be concerned about anything, where you go, what you will eat. I will go before you, and I will provide all you need. Just have your bags packed ready. Just Go!

Does that sound like Jesus to you? Jim, of course, had no idea I'd been fasting, seeking the Lord's leading for the previous eighteen days. But Jesus knew all about it.

He said 'Go!'

Things moved fast after that. Within four days: The Lord made it clear to me where to go. (Through Job Chapter 24, I wept as I read it.) Within ten days: I was gone.

Within two weeks: I was preaching Jesus in the hill-tribe villages of North Thailand. That's Jesus! If you want to really follow Him: You'll need a seat-belt.

A Lisu Bible Study on the Burmese Border

Arriving in Thailand on a one-way ticket, I knew nobody, but the LORD Jesus Christ. When you begin the rest of your life, that is a good place to begin, knowing only God. He is enough.

I was still a babe in Christ, but totally sincere in my desire to share the Gospel with anyone who'd listen. I look back, and marvel at God's love, and confidence in me.

Would you let an 18 month-old baby loose in Grand Central Station, with the most important message in the Universe, saying,

Go son, tell everyone y'meet about me. You won't see me but I will be with you, I'll look after you, I'll confirm my Word through you, just go!

Would you say that? No Theologian would ever talk like that. But praise God, The LORD Jesus Christ does. I followed His Spirit's leading in my heart through a series of Divine appointments. Remember, the sons and daughters of God are led by the Spirit of God (Ro. 8:14). God's Spirit lives in a believer's heart, not their head. For example: I read Job 24 (I have since seen the whole chapter literally fulfiled before my eyes.)

They are drenched by mountain rains and hug rocks for lack of shelter. The fatherless child is snatched from the breast, the orphan seized for a debt.

And wept, and wept for the poor people who don't know Jesus personally. Those who cling to rocks, stone idols, who worship rivers and trees, and anything else other than the Living God.

I knew I should visit the animist Hill-tribe people first. But there are lots of tribes, all speaking different languages, and I didn't even know Thai, let alone Akha, Lahu, Karen, Yao, Hmong etc.

I set-off in a Northern Thai city to look for the biggest Church, to see if they knew any Hill-Tribe people. After searching for at least three hours I was totally lost.

I was sweaty, tired, and dismayed, but didn't consider going home; but simply stood outside a cinema, and prayed on the street.

"Lord, you said 'Go!' I've come in your Name, please help me to do what you want, if I'm missing it here, just correct me. I love you, Amen."

If you were Jesus, and you'd sent your kid into Grand Central with His message, and he cried out to you like that, what would you do?

Here's what He did. Immediately, a total-stranger came up to me, and asked in English if I was a Christian. Well, I suppose you don't see too many crazy folks praying on a busy street in a foreign land.

"Yes." I smiled.

"What are you doing here?"

"Jesus sent me."

The chap became very excited. Pointing to the cinema behind us he said,

"Praise the Lord. We've just been praying in there for more labourers!"

You see, the 'cinema' was the Church I was searching for. It was entirely 'home-grown,' Spirit-filled, and had flourished so fast, they rented a new place that had not yet been listed in any directory. That's not all. My new friend was Hill-Tribe. A young Lisu man who spoke excellent English, Thai, Burmese and Lisu.

He invited me to testify there and then. We went in the 'cinema', and I told a Bible study group about how I got saved. I spoke English, my new friend translated into Thai. That weekend he insisted we go to his Lisu village to visit his family. So we made the trek through the hills of the Thai-Burmese border. Within two days hill-tribe Lisu people were hearing the Good News through an English Cow-Doctor.

The very first service we attended in the mountain village, our Lisu friend gave me a shock. I asked him what the preacher was going to preach on today. He answered,

"I don't know you haven't told me yet. You're the Preacher."

It was a water-shed, because I thought I'd come to treat animals for Jesus, but the Lord had opened another door.

A demon manifests

I stood up asking the Lord to help me, and opened my mouth. After my very first sentence, which was, "In Jesus Christ we have the Victory." A demon-possessed man rushed into the service beating up everyone in range. There was total chaos. The Lord whispered to my heart,

This happened to me too. Rebuke it in my Name.

So I rushed up to the flailing man, and did just what the Lord told me to do. (Always a good idea.) The whole Church (by now black-eyed and bleeding) followed suit, and began rebuking the evil spirit in Christ's Name, and the tyrant immediately ran out, and tried to clamber up a bamboo wall.

Reaching the top, he fell at our feet, curled in a ball like a hedgehog. Completely subdued, by the power in Jesus' Name.

After that, I said, "See, there's our victory in Jesus! He is Almighty God"

And eight Lisu demon-worshippers gave their lives to Jesus on the spot.

I was thrilled, "This is even more fun than injecting pigs!"

That is just one example of what Jesus will do for anybody who wants to follow him. Religious people will hold you back muttering, "Be careful, it may not be God. Don't get excited, you're still young in your faith. Why not go to Bible School or Seminary first, there you can learn more about God?"

People often ask me if I've been to Bible School?

"Only God's," I answer, "And I've not graduated yet!"

If you sense Jesus Christ leading you to go anywhere to tell of Him, what are you waiting for? He already said,

Go! Preach the Good News to every creature.

You'll learn more in a week of truly following Christ than you will during a lifetime in a cemetery, I mean seminary. Learn like the first disciples did, by walking with the Living Christ, not listening to withered-figs who've never seen a single miracle of Christ.

How did Jesus teach the first group? He threw them in at the deep-end. He hasn't changed. He won't let you sink if you truly trust in Him and depend on Him. Do you think He loves me more than you? Trusts me more than you?

Well, that is how Christ got me started, and I'm still reaching out with the Gospel in all the S.E. Asian countries and beyond. Some nations try to restrict the proclamation of Christ, but they find out, like King Herod, that if you dare lay a hand on God's Baby, you're going to be very sorry, and you're certainly going to fail.

For more details of what I'm up to now you will have to wait until we get home to the Glory. Be busy and alert, Saints.

Love in Jesus' Name, Colin
